BPS - Education
The firm has worked for University of California system at UC Irvine, for the University of Southern California at USC, Marymount College, and UCLA in Los Angeles. We have also worked for private, independent schools including the Chadwick School, Rolling Hills Preparatory School, and the Verde Valley School in Arizona.
And our education projects have also improved public school campuses including Long Beach Unified, Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified, Torrance, Los Angeles Unified, Hawthorne, Lennox and Redondo Beach Unified School District.
We have developed a special ability to meet tight District budgets and timelines through the use of prefabricated, portable classrooms in both single and two-story configurations. In fact, we have built entire school campuses using this unique and cost-effective system of construction.
The firm has completed an initial phase of densifi cation and has two more phases in permitting for construction summer of 2011.
“We have developed a master plan for the campus that will support the college’s growth for twenty years or more, perhaps to mid-century.”
Joint Use Gymnasium
Bryant Palmer Soto has been engaged for almost five years in assisting Rolling hills Preparatory School in their relocation efforts on the Palos Verdes peninsula in southern Los Angeles County.

This video clip shows part of the initial process of the installation of 12 modular units to comprise a two-story classroom building. This installation was done in one day.
The district steered four significant projects toward LEED certification: a student-services building, a gymnasium, an aquatic center, a cafeteria; and two more buildings are on the drawing boards including an industrial arts building and a science complex.
Verde Valley School
This prototype design was developed for a Design/Build to suit for charter schools in California. It is modeled after a highly efficient, low cost charter school recently built on a very small site in downtown Los Angeles with some unique differences.
BPS prepared this quick feasibility study to assist Del Amo construction in preparing a design/build construction cost estimate to convert a former urban auto dealership into a charter school in downtown Los Angeles.

BPS masterplanned this large religious complex, which includes a sanctuary, recreation building, church and school offices, 20 classrooms and meetings rooms on three levels and a possible parking structure.
Aviation High School
BPS' Richard Niemeyer was selected to provide civil engineering services to OMA in their redevelopment of Redondo Beach's Aviation High School, including an initial feasibility study examining existing infrastructure and traffic patterns, neighborhood compatibility issues, and potentials for street widening for this politically charged project which sought to sell the bulk of a South Bay public High School to a private developer.
The City’s aim was to construct
an icon, unlike the typical municipal structure. The firm
conceived a building that acts as a signpost, signaling the
importance of this unique urban wetland....
Bryant Palmer Soto is proud to have been selected to design the Health & Dignity
Center for the Hawthorne Unified School District.
The "Architect of Record" for the project is a firm that continues to practice in Portland, known as PDT Architects & Planners. Mr. Phinney was a Project Manager with the firm responsible for this particular school project.
